Lucas Becerra holds a BA in Economics (Universidad de Buenos Aires), a MA in International Studies (Universidad Torcuato Di Tella) and a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires with a training grant awarded by CONICET. He has attended a large number of higher education courses, including a stay at the STEPS Center of the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
Currently, he is Regular Professor of the Economics and Business Department at the National University (UNQ) of Quilmes and Assistant Researcher of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET), with a chair at the Institute of Studies on Science and Technology (UNQ). During the last 8 years, he has been participating in numerous research projects (developing new concepts and performing evidence-based analysis) on topics related to social studies of development; socio-technical analysis; science, technology and innovation policies; technologies for inclusive and sustainable development; and circular economy.
In recent years, Lucas has been dedicated to the production of academic publications; field work on territorial development strategies; the incidence in public policies and the generation of cognitive inputs for decision making. Currently, he is Director of the R&D project "Public Policies of Science, Technology and Innovation. Analysis and strategic design of policies and instruments oriented to Sustainable Inclusive Development" and is co-director of the R&D project in vacancy areas "Social Price Formation and the construction of Technologies for Sustainable Inclusive Development in the territories".
Among his many activities of territorial intervention and incidence in public policies, Lucas is member of the Network of Technologies for Social Inclusion (RedTISA); Director of the engagement project "Strengthening of inclusive socio-community dynamics: Social management of water, sanitation and habitat in rural and peri-urban areas" and member of the project "Right to Access to Goods: Water for Development".
